It has been a long time since I read this book, however it's content has stayed with me throughout the years. It is a horrible story that gives a birds eye view of life through the eyes of an abused child. It is his sheer will to live that enables him to survive. There is nothing redeeming about his abusive mother, which I don't believe is the norm. I found the descriptions of horrible abuse wore on me after a while, and I looked forward to being finished with the book.
